Infertility is defined as the inability to conceive after one year of timed, unprotected intercourse. Fertility issues can be caused by a variety of factors, including hormonal issues, ovarian issues, uterine or tubal problems, and semen abnormalities.
If you are concerned about possible infertility, the first step is to schedule an appointment. A detailed medical history will be taken, and we will start a work-up with you.
Treatment of infertility depends on the cause. Medication for ovulation induction, intrauterine insemination, uterine surgery for polyps/fibroids or a combination of these therapies may be used. Sometimes, more advanced therapies such as assisted reproductive technologies (ART) are necessary.
After the initial work-up at our office, you will be referred to reproductive specialists if your doctor feels that this would be the best course of action for you and your partner.
