From its establishment over 60 years ago, Aiiku Hospital’s Obstetrics and Gynecology Department has been considering the safety of the mother and child as our top priority,and encouragement of “natural birth” as our basic philosophy. This concept has not changed to the present day.

From April, 1999 when the Tokyo Metropolitan Government designated the hospital as a General Perinatal Maternal & Child Medical Center which includes Maternal-Fetal Intensive Care Unit, the hospital has been pursuing the goal of being even more committed to safety. Aiiku Hospital provides comprehensive services including labor, delivery, postpartum and newborn care. Services are provided for both high-risk and low-risk pregnancies and newborns. Obstetricians and certified nurse midwives are in the hospital at all times to cope with situations requiring immediate attention.

Over 1,500 babies are delivered at Aiiku each year. The competent and caring nursing staff of Aiiku strives to honor every family’s individual birth plan within a private, home-like environment. The Birth Suites have private rooms for labor, delivery, and recovery period, and two cesarean section operating rooms. The unit was designed to respect privacy and family involvement at all stages of the birthing process. We encourage family participation in the birth. We provide skin to skin, mother-baby contact if you wish. We offer public cord blood bank coordination but private ones.

After birth, you and your baby remain under highly personalized care. You have the option of having your baby stay in your room with you and that enables you to learn how to take care of your new infant. Our certified nurse midwives will help you to take care of your baby step by step. And mothers also receive breast-feeding information and assistance from specially trained midwives during their hospital stay. Our staff is ready to answer questions and support families who are accepting a new baby into the family.

We also provide care to women who are hospitalized before delivery because of complications of pregnancy. Members of the nursing staff provide one-on-one teaching and antepartum support is also available.

Our outpatient clinic provides antepartum medical examinations and treatments for disorder of the female reproductive, and urinary systems as well as adolescence & menopause disorders.

The Department of Anesthesiology provides not only anesthesia for gynecological surgeries and cesarean sections,but also obstetric analgesia to relieve labor pain for patients who wish to receive it.
Presently, most parturients receive anesthesia care. We will make every possible effort to ensure a comfortable delivery and to take safety.

What is Pediatric Surgery??
Pediatric Surgery concentrates on the special surgical care of children.
We focus on the care for newborn babies, infants, children, and adolescents until age 15.
Pediatric Surgeons treat a wide variety of clinical problems in non-cardiac thoracic surgery (trachea or respiratory disorders), gastroenterology (gastrointestinal or hepatic & biliary tract disorders), urology & gynecology (kidney, ureter, bladder, urethra, penis, testicle or ovarian disorders), endocrinology (thyroid, parathyroid, or adrenal disorders) with congenital and acquired conditions.
We provide a room suite that both you and your child are able to stay together called “Baby & Mother Cube”. You are an important part of your child’s healthcare team. Toddlers are most disturbed by separation. We try to avoid the fear of separation by keeping the mothers & the kids together all the time.
We strive to make every child and family’s visit as easy and comfortable as possible.

At the Department of Internal medicine for Women, female doctors examine health problems that are common in women, such as, constipation, asthma, the inflammation of the bladder, anemia, insomnia, etc. Prescriptions during pregnancy or breast-feeding are also available. Services for husband and families are also available at the Department of Internal Medicine. Internist has medical expertise in medical examination, diagnosis, and treatment of various adult diseases. Our Physicians at Aiiku Hospital are specialized in Internal Medicine: specifically cardiovascular medicine (Tuesdays) and diabetology (Mondays,Wednesdays,Fridays). Internists have medical expertise in medical examination, diagnosis, and treatment of various adult diseases.
Minato City offers aid to its residents for women's health exams at Aiiku Hospital. For more information, contact the Health Service Subsection, Health Promotion Section (Public Health Services Center). Aid is also given for immunization.
